billy joel and me

I'm kind of a sucker for Billy Joel. Love that piano, that voice, that music dripping with raw rhythm, and soul, and a feel that just won't quit. Mmm ... just watch the piano and sax play back and forth in this live version of "New York State of Mind". Oh my, it gets me every time.

Cheap segue moment ...

I'm in a thankful state of mind.

I just love where I'm at, who I'm with (family and friends both). And somehow I've gotten to a point in life where I've got enough under my belt to look back and see - really see - what mattered. And to be pleasantly surprised by what comes back around however many years later.

Yesterday, Todd from CityKidz was at CF - talked about how sometimes the daily details can beat the idealism right out of you. Boy, can I relate.

And yet ... after the daily details have put forth their screamin' best effort ... I'm still here. Still dreaming. Still mighty happy and passionate about the life I'm in.

And it's a state of mind that needs Billy Joel to express it.

So.. theoretically.. would you go see Movin' Out were you to have the chance?

Given the chance, I'd go see almost any theater performance. Is Movin' Out coming this way?

Yup. I'd go.

Yes, the man is pure pop, in the most flattering sense. Seen him live and he is also one superb all-round entertainer.
The show is supposed to be quite fun.
I think it may already have toured through TO, but I'm not sure.

And, what a lovely reminder for me, in the midst of stressing, that there is so much to be grateful for! So, thanks... ;-)
